I have had this song in my head for a long time, almost from the very beginning when President and Mrs. Obama took office. Almost immediately the opposition started their attacks not only on the President but to my surprise on the First Lady. Right away I felt robbed of whatever it was we were supposed to feel after such a hard fought election and considering the historical implications I found myself asking. When do we get to celebrate, breathe, take it all in?

Maybe celebrate isn't the right word, but I felt so much joy and satisfaction in my heart over the fact that Michelle Obama was our First Lady... She was and still is, in my opinion, Amazing. So from my heart came these words...I just wanted her to understand just how important and meaningful she as First Lady is to the youngest girl child to the eldest woman-child of color. We're always told that we can be whatever it is we want to be, because we live in America...Michelle Obama symbolizes the truth...and the truth couldn't be any plainer. Mrs. Obama is the essence of America...She brought her simple truth into the White House ... all the things she was taught as a young girl brought up on the Southside of Chicago...Those simple things have made her a phenomenal First Lady...

Look beyond my voice and try and capture what I feel in my soul for this beautiful First Lady...As an African American woman...this song expresses what she means to me and hopefully to millions more...And to anyone who spells their name "WOMAN"...
